Summary

In this powerful teaching on Joshua 10, Louie Giglio explores Joshua's bold prayer asking the sun to stand still. He reminds believers that walking into life's difficult battles requires standing on a word of promise from God and trusting that God is already at work behind the scenes. True prayer is not about long, eloquent speeches, but simple, bold cries of faith aligned with God's glory and will. When believers pray, human faith merges with divine power to break chains and display God's victory.

Sermon Moments

“Words from God typically start with 'Do not be afraid,' because He recognizes there is something in our situation that would make us fear.”

“The true warrior spirit means having a quiet nature on the outside, but a furnace of faith burning inside.”

“The prayer that moved heaven in Joshua 10 was not long or flowery—the essence of it was just three words: 'Sun, stand still.'”

“The prayer that moves God is the prayer that aligns with God's glory and prays, 'Your will be done.'”

“The sun is 93 million miles away and massive to us, yet it is microscopic to the God who spoke it into existence—and that same God sees your battle.”

“Through faith and prayer, believers can see chains break, iron gates open, and captive people walk free.”

“God can always do what He wants to do in the time He has allotted to do it, so keep believing because heaven moves when people pray.”

This Week

Whenever fear or intimidation arises, search the Scriptures for a specific word of promise from God to anchor your heart before taking action.

Cultivate a quiet, gentle demeanor in your interactions with others while maintaining a passionate, persistent prayer life in private.

Pray simple, direct prayers of faith instead of feeling pressure to use long or complex religious language.

Align your prayer requests directly with God's will and glory, asking for His divine purposes to be fulfilled in your situation.

Trust that God is performing thousands of unseen actions in your circumstances, even when you can only perceive a small fraction of what He is doing.

Continue praying faithfully for loved ones who are bound by fear, pride, or addiction, believing God is able to break their spiritual chains.

Remind yourself daily that the Creator of the universe sees your personal battles and has the power to intervene according to His timing.

Remember This

When believers pray bold, simple prayers aligned with God's glory, heaven responds and God moves on their behalf.

A Challenge for You

Don't stop believing. Heaven moves when people pray. God can always do what He wants to do in the time He has allotted, so keep calling on heaven for chains to break and your loved ones to walk free.
