Summary
When religious leaders tried to trap Jesus with a question about paying taxes to Rome, He revealed their hypocritical motives and established a foundational Christian ethic. Jesus taught that believers should be model citizens who honor government authority, but ultimately recognize that because we are made in God's image, our entire lives belong to Him.
