A Warning to the World

Part of Awesome August: Bases LoadedSummary
This sermon explores Psalm 2, revealing the stark contrast between human rebellion and God's absolute sovereignty. While the nations gather to declare their independence from the Creator, their efforts are entirely futile because God remains securely enthroned. Believers are called to submit fully to the lordship of Jesus Christ and boldly warn a rebellious world to find refuge in Him.Key Scriptures

- 3.The Summons: Kiss the Son.
Key Points
- 1.Scene 1: The world is in rebellion, actively seeking independence from the authority and rule of God.
- 2.This human rebellion is entirely worthless and 'vain' because it is an attempt by the creation to overthrow its Creator.
- 3.Human rebellion is often united; world leaders and cultures frequently set aside their differences to collectively oppose God's truth.
- 4.Rebellion is fundamentally lawless, driven by a desire to cast off God's moral boundaries, commands, and definitions of reality.
- 5.Scene 2: God is still ruling from the heavens, completely unshaken and unthreatened by the rebellion of mankind.
- 6.God laughs and scoffs at human opposition, as human schemes are completely powerless against His divine omnipotence and sovereignty.
- 7.God has already installed His King, Jesus Christ, upon His holy hill, establishing His eternal and unshakeable kingdom.
- 8.The Summons: The world is commanded to 'kiss the Son,' which is a call to bow down, submit, and pay homage to Jesus Christ.
- 9.True freedom is not found in independence from God, which only leads to chaos and slavery to sin, but in total submission to His loving authority.

This Week
- Examine your heart for any areas where you are trying to live independently from God's rule.
- Surrender your desire for self-governance and find true freedom by submitting to the lordship of Jesus Christ.
- Refuse to conform to the world's attempts to redefine what God has already clearly established, including gender, sexuality, and marriage.
- Stand firm on the authority of God's Word, refusing to let cultural trends compromise your biblical convictions.
- Warn the world with your lips by sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and the reality of His coming judgment.
- Warn the world with your life by living daily under the authority of God as a kingdom man or kingdom woman.
- Take refuge in the Son of God daily, trusting in His protection and resting in His sovereign care.
Remember This
True freedom and joy are never found in declaring independence from God, but in submitting completely to the sovereign rule of His Son, Jesus Christ.
A Challenge for You
First, we must warn the world with our lips. We must tell people that God has a King and His name is Jesus Christ, and everybody must submit to Him. Second, we must warn the world with our lives. We must live underneath the rule of God as kingdom people, so that we can show the world what it looks like to submit to the King.Keep growing this week
