Revelation
A vision of Christ's ultimate victory over evil
The apostle John wrote Revelation, the closing and only prophetic book of the New Testament. Its date is generally fixed at AD 96 during the reign of Domitian, though some argue for an earlier date about AD 68 or 69 during Nero's reign. The book records a magnificent vision of a supreme conflict between good and evil. Jesus Christ is the central figure who secures victory through defeat. Saturated with Old Testament language, the text describes Christ's warfare and triumph, showing how the Jewish dispensation served as the preparation for the gospel.
