Philemon
A personal letter interceding for Onesimus
Paul wrote this private letter from Rome to Philemon and his family in Colosse. Philemon came to the gospel through Paul and held a prominent place in the church there. Onesimus had deserted his master, Philemon. Paul found him in Rome and was instrumental in his conversion. Paul then sent Onesimus back with this letter, written at the same time as Colossians and Ephesians. Setting aside his apostolic dignity and authority, Paul speaks simply as Christian to Christian, humbly interceding for Onesimus.
