John
Jesus as the Son of God and the Light of life
This Gospel is traditionally credited to the apostle John. It was addressed primarily to Christians and was probably written at Ephesus about AD 90. After Jerusalem was destroyed in AD 70, Ephesus became the center of Christian life and activity in the East. The book reflects a time of antagonism from the world against the truth revealed in Christ, while showing the spiritual blessedness of those who yield to him. It highlights the relation between the Father and the Son, the Holy Ghost as Comforter, and love.
