Isaiah
Prophecies calling Judah to trust in the LORD
The prophet Isaiah, son of Amoz, wrote this book in Palestine. His ministry began in Judah probably about 762 BC under King Uzziah and extended past King Hezekiah's death in 698 BC. During this time, the rising power of Assyria invaded the region, destroying Samaria in 722 BC and threatening Jerusalem in 701 BC. Judah faced intense political crises, military pressure, and future threats from Babylon. As leaders debated risky alliances with foreign powers like Egypt, Isaiah delivered messages to Judah, urging the people to place their trust entirely in the LORD.
