Hebrews
A call for Jewish Christians to stay faithful to Christ
This letter does not name its author. It is traditionally credited to Paul, though others have suggested Silas, Luke, Barnabas, Apollos, or Clement of Rome. It was in all probability written at Rome near the close of Paul's two years' imprisonment, before the destruction of Jerusalem. It was intended for Jewish converts, probably the church at Jerusalem. At that time, certain Jewish Christians showed a tendency to abandon Christianity and return to Judaism. The letter was written to check this tendency and to confirm their allegiance to Christ.
