Four messages urging the rebuilding of the temple
The prophet Haggai wrote this brief, two-chapter book to the people. At the time, the main focus was urging the people to proceed with rebuilding the temple. Haggai delivered four prophecies in total. He gave the second prophecy a month after the first address. He delivered the third prophecy two months and three days after the second, and he gave the fourth prophecy on that very same day. The first chapter records the effects of his message. These discourses are also referred to in Ezra and Hebrews.
