Ezra
Exiles return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple
The Book of Ezra is traditionally credited to Ezra. It records events at the close of the Babylonian exile. The history begins with the decree of Cyrus in about 536 BC, when the first exiles returned to Jerusalem. They rebuilt and dedicated the new temple by about 515 BC. After a blank of about sixty years, Ezra led a second return of exiles. The book details the events that took place in Jerusalem, ending with Ezra's reformation in about 456 BC.
