Deuteronomy
Moses' farewell addresses before entering Canaan
Deuteronomy is traditionally credited to Moses as a series of farewell addresses spoken to all Israel. He delivered these discourses in the plains of Moab during the eleventh month of the final year of their wanderings, shortly before his death. After forty years in the wilderness, the people were preparing to enter and settle in Canaan. Moses reviewed their past, restated the law given at Mount Sinai, and urged faithfulness to God's covenant.
