3 John
A letter commending traveling preachers
This letter does not name its author, but it is traditionally credited to John. It was probably written from Ephesus, soon after his First Epistle. The letter is addressed to a Christian named Gaius, or Caius, though it is uncertain whether he was the believer by that name from Macedonia, Corinth, or Derbe. At the time, some Christians who were strangers to Gaius had traveled to the place where he lived to preach the gospel. This letter was written for the purpose of commending these traveling preachers to Gaius.
