2 Thessalonians
Correcting confusion about Christ's return
Paul wrote this letter to the church in Thessalonica, a large Roman capital city in Macedonia. He had previously established the church there before Jewish violence drove him away. Paul probably wrote from Corinth, not many months after his first letter, about AD 53. News had arrived that the Thessalonian believers misunderstood his first letter regarding the second coming of Christ. They wrongly believed that Christ's coming was just about to happen. Paul wrote to correct this error and explain what must take place first.
